Introduction

Welcome to The Backlot! By accessing our website, mobile application, booking tickets with us or by visiting our venue, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions (the "Terms and Conditions" or "Agreement"), all applicable laws and regulations, and agree that you are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing The Backlot.

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website, mobile application, and venue and provide information about the The Backlot Service, outlined below. When you create an account with The Backlot or use our site, and visit us in person, you agree to these terms.

The Backlot is provided to you by TOWER CINEMAS (BLACKPOOL) LIMITED, located at 1 George Square, Glasgow, United Kingdom, G2 1AL. You can contact us at info@thebacklotblackpool.co.uk with the subject line of "T&C Request".

1.1 Only customers in possession of a Cinema Booking will be admitted into the auditorium to which the ticket relates and admission will be permitted only for the duration of the performance specified in the Cinema Booking.

1.2 Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years of age at all times. No unaccompanied children under the age of 15 after 7pm are permitted in the Premise. No under 18s are allowed on the Premise after 9pm Sunday to Thursday and after 10pm Friday and Saturday.

1.3 When watching a movie, or during event cinema performances, mobile phones and other audio devices must be switched off or in a silent mode before you enter the auditorium.

1.4 In order to avoid disturbing other guests, if you arrive after the start of the feature film you will only be permitted entry into the auditorium at the duty manager’s sole discretion. Refunds will not be issued by us in these circumstances.

1.5 We, acting reasonably, reserve the right to refuse admission or request a guest to leave at any time for an objectively determined reason. The duty manager’s decision in these cases is final. Refunds will not be issued by us in these circumstances.

1.6 In the interest of safety, security and other reasonable causes, we may ask to search your possessions whilst inside our venue for any item which a staff member believes may contravene these Terms and Conditions. We reserve the right to refuse entry or require you, if you don’t agree to being searched, to leave the venue without entitlement to a refund.

1.7 Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes and other artificial smoking devices are strictly forbidden within our venue. If you are caught using these you will be asked to leave our venue without entitlement to a refund.

1.8 You must keep your personal belongings with you at all times. We accept no responsibility for the loss, theft, alteration or damage to any personal items brought into the venue. Items left unoccupied will be kept for 7 days, and then donated to charity or disposed of.

1.9 CCTV is in operation throughout The Backlot for the purpose of crime prevention and public safety. For further details, please see our Privacy Policy.

1.10 It is a serious criminal offence to copy or attempt to copy any film or other copyright material exhibited in any part of the cinema, punishable on conviction with an unlimited fine and imprisonment of up to a maximum of ten years. You are not permitted to bring cameras and/or recording equipment of any kind into the venue for the purposes of illegal activity. We reserve the right to carry out random bag checks and refuse equipment at the sole discretion of the duty manager.

1.11 You may not bring any dangerous and/or illegal items into any part of the venue at any time, this includes items such as knives or drugs.

1.11.1 We operate a zero-tolerance policy on drug use in our venue. We will work with local authorities to report any drug related activity.

1.12 Our team members are valuable to us, so please treat them with the respect they deserve or we will require you to leave the venue. We will not tolerate any bad language, and language where the content and tone is threatening in nature. Derogatory and discriminatory comments of a racial, personal, sexual or religious nature are not tolerated and will result in your removal from the venue with no refund.

2.1
Cinema tickets are sold by The Backlot at standard prices for the relevant performance. These prices may vary based on numerous factors, including without limitation, the location of the screen within the venue, the timing of the performance, the specific titles, the sales channel and the ticket type. By booking tickets through our Website, you are placing a booking request for tickets (“Cinema Booking”) in accordance with these Terms and Conditions that are only deemed accepted by us and binding once valid payment has been processed and You have been sent an email confirmation of your booking. If pricing of any tickets is included on the website in error then the correct ticket price will be due and payable by you based on the standard pricing. Where errors have been made on pricing, We reserve the right to offer you the option to pay any difference in pricing or cancel the ticket, in which case we will offer you a full refund.

2.2 Tickets bought online or through our sales channels are subject to an added booking fee of £1 per ticket. The booking fee for Event Cinema bookings is £1.50 per ticket. Certain exclusions apply including free issue tickets, for example, member bookings and CEA card holders. Booking fees are refunded or credited in full whenever the ticket is cancelled.

2.3 The purchase of a cinema ticket entitles you access to the performance named at the stated time and date in the venue.

2.4 You must be present each cinema ticket so it can be scanned, to do this you must:

2.4.1 Show the ticket barcode on your smartphone or electronic device at the usher point;

2.4.2 Printing the ticket(s) at home and bringing the printed copy in to the cinema to be scanned at the usher point; or

2.4.3 Providing your Cinema Booking reference number at any customer service point and tickets will be printed for you.

2.5 Use of any cinema tickets will be strictly subject to our Terms of Entry. If you are purchasing tickets on behalf of others in accordance with Clause 3.13 you shall be responsible for procuring their ongoing compliance with our Terms of Entry.

2.6 It is your responsibility to check your tickets as We are under no obligation to rectify mistakes after purchase of tickets. We are not obliged to replace lost or stolen tickets.

2.7 You may be asked to present the payment card used to make your Cinema Booking or the Cinema Booking reference number for verification in order to collect your tickets at the venue. It is, therefore, your responsibility to ensure you bring the correct form of verification used to complete your Cinema Booking.

2.8 We are accept Cinema Exhibitors Association (CEA). If You have a disability or special needs, you can apply for a CEA card. This allows your carer free admission when they attend the cinema with you. Guide and Hearing dogs are welcome but other animals are not permitted on the premise. Loop and Fidelio systems are available for the visually or audio impaired.

2.9 Cinema Tickets are non-refundable. However, members will receive a credit for cancelled bookings in the following circumstances:

2.9.1 A Cinema Booking which is cancelled 2 hours before the schedules time of the showing unless it's for an Event Cinema performance where 48 hours notice is required. When a cinema booking is cancelled any associated food and drink items will also be cancelled and a credit created. Any booking not cancelled within the specified timeframe will not be credited.

2.9.2 Any credits created will be added to your online account and may be redeemed against purchases on the website, or at our box office.

2.10 Any merchandise purchased cannot be credited and must be collected within 14 days of purchase.

2.11 You will be offered a full refund or the option to swap to an alternative screening and any difference in price will be charged or refunded to you where we are, for any reason unable to provide a screening. Such refund will also include any online food and drink items purchased in advance at the same time which have not been fulfilled for any reason. Refunds will be made to the payment card used to make the Cinema Booking or in cash if you purchased in cash at the venue. If for whatever reason you are unable to accept the refund onto the card used to make the booking, or accept cash back, we will issue your refund via credit. Never via another payment method due to money laundering laws.

2.12 You must not purchase tickets except for personal use and you represent, warrant and undertake that tickets are not purchased as part of any form of a for-profit business or commercial activity, including without limitation a competition, unless we have expressly authorised otherwise in writing in advance.

2.13 You may purchase cinema tickets on behalf of yourself or friends and family but they may not be offered for re-sale, re-sold and/or offered for sale.

2.12 Student tickets will be issued only upon the production of a valid National Union of Students (NUS) identification showing a clear photograph of the student and the applicable expiry date of the identification. Student tickets will be limited to one per student. Photographic identification may be checked before admission to the cinema in the case of pre-booked tickets.

2.13 Seniors tickets are available at certain times on specified days and will only be issued on the production of a valid senior card, senior bus pass / freedom pass or state pension letter. Senior tickets will be limited to one ticket per senior. Proof of entitlement and identification may be checked before admission to the cinema auditorium in the case of pre-booked tickets.

2.14 We will always try to show films in accordance with the advertised programme. However, there may be circumstances in which we are unable to comply with the advertised programme and we reserve the right to cancel a performance, vary the time of a screening or substitute an alternative film if this becomes necessary because of circumstances beyond our control including a Force Majeure Event. If this happens we will, at our discretion, refund the cost of the ticket or issue another ticket for the same film on an alternative occasion. We are unable to take responsibility for programme information advertised by third parties, for up to date programme information visit (thebacklotblackpool.co.uk).

2.15 Entry to films and events in the cinema is restricted by the classification given by the British Board of Film Classification or others. We are required to refuse admission to anyone who is below or appears to be below the minimum age required by the relevant classification.

2.16 We reserve the right to require you to prove your age with appropriate photographic ID if You are going to a 12A, 15 or 18 film and/or or purchasing an alcoholic drink. If you are unable to prove your age you will be not be able to watch the film or buy an alcoholic drink. We reserve the right to ask for such proof at any time you are inside the venue. We operate Challenge 25.

3.1
Only food and drink purchased at the venue during your visit may be consumed within the venue, unless there are exceptional dietary requirements, in which case you should make a member of our team aware of this at the Usher Point when you scan your tickets.

3.2 No alcoholic drinks may be brought into the venue. You must observe the licensing regulations at the venue concerning the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks. Alcohol can only be ordered and consumed by people aged 18 or over. We operate Challenge 25. We operate our venue responsibly, safely and within the law. We want you to enjoy visiting us and to find safe, welcoming environments, which neither condone nor encourage excessive drinking. We always seek to work closely and constructively with the key authorities, including Police, Fire, Environmental Health and Local Authorities.

BACKLOT VIP Membership
  • The annual charge for the membership is £5.
  • VIP membership is only valid for customers who live in an FY postcode.
  • Customers must show a valid proof of address (utility bill, driving license, etc.) to be able to redeem offer.
  • Membership sign up is only redeemable at The Backlot. Once the membership has been purchased at The Backlot, it can be used to purchase tickets in person or online.
  • The Backlot reserves the right to exclude films and events from the discount at any time
  • The ticket discount cannot be applied to live events (unless otherwise stated by The Backlot)
  • Discounts on tickets are redeemable for the member only and are limited to one ticket per member per film screening.
  • Cinema snacks and drinks discount applies to a purchase made by the member only 
  • Cinema snack & drinks are only items purchased at the main concession stand. Excludes items purchased in the diner & The Hangout 
  • The snacks & drinks discount is not applicable for items purchased for a private screening
  • The Backlot reserves the right to change the price, discounts and offer at any time. 
  • If the member has selected to store their card details in The Backlot’s website, the membership will automatically renew after one year (if the offer is still applicable).
